The photon emission properties of Yb- and Nd-doped laser ceramic materials have been investigated in the temperature range from 298 K to 400 K. The materials such as YAG, YO and LuO have been adopted as host ceramic materials of the tested Yb-doped ceramics. New Nd:GY ceramics made of the mixture of GSAG and YSGG have been tested. The Nd doped GY material has the bandwidth 5 nm broader than that of Nd doped YAG. The tested ceramic materials are mounted in a heating container, which is specially designed based on the result obtained by a FEM calculation to establish a homogeneous temperature profile of the test material. The measured intensity and lifetime values are substituted into Fuchtbauer-Landenburg formula to estimate the emission cross sections. The peak emission cross sections have shown gradual decreasing trends against temperature.
